HJÆLP WASI TIL EN FREMTID
Støt flygtningedrengen Wasi med en uddannelse og et job / Help the refugee boy Wasi to an education and a job.

 For English, please look below.

BAGGRUND FOR INDSAMLINGEN

Her gik han i skole, lærte dansk, knyttede tætte venskaber og fik kærester.

Wasiullah modtog i foråret 2015 fem års midlertidig opholdstilladelse i Italien.

ENGLISH:

Wasiullah fled from Afghanistan alone without his parents when he was 15 – it is now 5 years ago. Today he has a temporary resident permit in Italy, but in a few months he will be homeless. If we do not help him, he will end as many of the other young refugees on the streets of Italy with no future in sight. With this fundraising campaign, we are therefore asking for help to support Wasi, who dreams of becoming a hairdresser and taking a certification course. Wasi’s life and journey has been depicted in the documentary film DREAMING OF DENMARK.

THE PURPOSE OF THE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

The goal of this fundraising campaign is simply to give Wasi a future. Wasi’s big dream is to get certified as a hairdresser and open his own salon. But in order to make this happen, he needs to be able to provide for his housing and living costs while he is studying. All the money raised in this campaign will go directly for this purpose and will be made available to Wasi through a monthly payment administered by me, Annemette El-louanzari.

Apart from the financial support we are also looking for ways to make Wasi able to help himself and make his own money. So do you run a company or does your company have branches or seasonal work in Italy? And could you use a hardworking and conscientious worker that speaks a fluent English, Danish, Pashto and Italian? If so, please contact us at hjaelpwasi@gmail.com

THE BACKGROUND FOR THE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

The documentary film DREAMING OF DENMARK follows the life of Wasiullah and is an insight into what happen to the many unaccompanied refugee children that disappear from the Danish asylum centers year after year. They disappear in fear of being sent back to the countries and situations that they fled from. The children have spent their formative years and developed their identity in Denmark and now hold the simple dream of being able to study, get a job and contribute to society.

WASI’S STORY

Wasi fled alone from Afghanistan to Denmark without his family when he was 15 years old. For 3 years he lived at an asylum center for unaccompanied minors in Græsted in Denmark. He attended school, learned Danish, made close friendships and had girlfriends. Meanwhile he received several rejections on his claim for asylum. When he turned 18 he received his final rejection and therefore stood to be sent back to Afghanistan.

Wasi intensively fears for his life if he is sent back, and so he flees to Italy. In Italy he hopes to obtain a residency permit that will allow him to return to Denmark later. Denmark has become Wasi’s home. This is where his friends and his identity are. He wishes to be a part of and contribute to society and dreams of a safe future with an education and a job.

In the spring of 2015, Wasiullah received a 5 years temporary residence permit in Italy. Obviously, this is very fortunate. However, the permit neither allows him to live nor work in Denmark. Further, if Wasi does not find a job in Italy before April 2016m he will loose his temporary housing and his residency permit will probably not be extended. The prospects of finding a job in Italy are very bad and the youth unemployment rate is currently at 40%.

However, if Wasi is able to start an education or find a stable job in Italy, his chance of obtaining permanent residency is good. If Wasi receives permanent residency in Italy he will be able to take a job in Denmark and return home.

WHO IS BEHIND THE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN?

Wasi’s two best friends are the Ethiopian brothers, Mussa and Abdissa. The 3 of them lived together in the children’s asylum center in Denmark. Mussa and Abdissa both received asylum in Denmark and now lives in “Morelhuset”, which is a home for unaccompanied refugee children who have been granted asylum. Mussa and Abdissa have a safe and happy life in Morelhuset and are attending a regular Danish school.

My name is Annemette El-louanzari and I have started this fundraising campaign for Wasi. I am the manager of Morelhuset, where I also live. I know Wasi through his close relationship with Mussa and Abdissa, who consider Wasi a part of the “Morehus-family”. Mussa and Abdissa have visited Wasi in Italy several times with the help of Morelhuset.
